"Whether it’s the World Match Race Tour, Extreme Sailing Series, or America’s Cup, the buzzwords are the same – and those words are “stadium sailing”. They’re coming to you right here in Chicago at the landmark Navy Pier this coming weekend for the Chicago Match InvitationalChicago Match Race Center is the host of this premier event, and August 12th to 14th are the dates for the Grade 2 event that’s bristling with some of the best talent ever assembled on Lake Michigan.

The ten teams competing include National, World and Olympic Champions like 2008 Olympic Gold Medalist Anna Tunnicliffe (USA), 2008 World Match Race Tour champion Bill Hardesty (USA) and U.S. Intercollegiate champion Taylor Canfield (USVI). Will Tiller (NZL) and his young team enter the event as the top seed at 22nd in the Open World Match Race rankings. Other teams attending include 2010 Chicago Match Cup defender Mike Buckley (USA), Laurie Jury (NZL), Jordan Reece (AUS), Nicolai Sehested (DEN), Don Wilson (USA) and Shawn Ryan (USA).

Racing will begin each day at 9AM with a live streamed morning show followed by world-class match racing on the web for the world to watch. The CMRC has set up free stadium seating for the general public with exciting live commentary going out to both the local spectators and the world.
